ECE, the abbreviation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, signed the “CONCERNING THE ADOPTION OF UNIFORM TECHNICAL PRESCRIPTIONS FOR WHEELED VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT AND PARTS WHICH CAN BE FITTED AND/OR BE USED ON WHEELED VEHICLES AND THE CONDITIONS FOR RECIPROCAL RECOGNITION OF APPROVALS GRANTED ON THE BASIS OF THESE PRESCRIPTIONS”in 1958. Certification of concerned countries is well recognized among these contracting parties. ECE regulations are drafted by the Road Transport Commission Vehicle Structure Expert Group (WP29) under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
