India Traction Battery Certification
India Traction Battery Certification is a mandatory requirement under India’s Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) for traction batteries used in road vehicles, construction machinery, and agricultural or forestry vehicles. Products within scope must be tested and certified by bodies recognized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H).
- MCM supports manufacturers by coordinating compliant testing, documentation, and certification approvals under CMVR.
- India’s vehicle certification system, established since 1989, requires key safety components such as traction batteries to comply with standards issued by the Automotive Industry Standards Committee (AISC) through ARAI.
- With practical experience in AISC standards and ARAI procedures, MCM helps ensure submissions meet regulatory expectations efficiently.
Through MCM’s support, manufacturers can obtain legal customs clearance and market access, reduce compliance risk, and ensure traction batteries meet Indian regulatory requirements. Certified test reports and approvals are a prerequisite for vehicle registration and commercial circulation in India.
