On April 1st 2023, Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) issued documents stating a postpone of incentive vehicle components implementation. The incentive on battery pack, battery management system (BMS) and battery cells, which initially would have started on April 1st, will be postponed until October 1st

In October 2022, India MHI issued incentive scheme for vehicle components. If cells, BMS and battery packs pass the following test, manufacturer can apply for allowance.

  • Cell testing items: Impact, temperature cycling, crush, vibration, thermal runaway, altitude simulation.
  • BMS testing items: Over-current protection, communication connector, cell voltage check, current sensor check, cell temperature check, MOS temperature check, charge and discharge MOS check, power rail check, fuse current check, cell balance function check.
  • Battery pack testing items: Enclosure stress, drop, water ingress, impact, unbalance charge.
