On 19 December 2022, India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways added COP requirements to CMVR certification for electric vehicle traction batteries. The COP requirement will be implemented on 31 March 2023.

After completing the revised Phase III II report and certificate for AIS 038 or AIS 156, power battery manufacturers are required to complete the first factory audit within a certain period of time and perform COP test every two years to maintain the validity of the certificate.

COP first year audit factory process: Indian testing agency after evidence notice/factory initiative to send a request –> factory to provide application data –> Indian audit data –> Arrangement audit factory –> issue audit factory report –> update test report
