To protect public health and safety, the South Korean government began implementing the new KC program for all electrical and electronics products in 2009. Manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic products must obtain KC Mark from authorized testing center prior to selling on Korean market. Under the certification scheme, electrical and electronic products are classified into Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. Lithium batteries belong to Type 2.

KC Certification Standard And Scope Of Lithium Batteries

Standard: KC 62133-2: 2020, refer to IEC 62133-2: 2017

 

Applicable scope

1.Lithium secondary batteries used in portable devices;

2.Lithium batteries used in personal transportation vehicles with speed less than 25km/h ;

3.Lithium cells with Max. charging voltage exceeded 4.4V & energy density higher than 700Wh/L are in the scope of Type 1, and the lithium batteries assembled with them are in the scope of Type 2.
